Lonely Little “da Vinci’s”
Are we a random cluster
Of arbitrary cosmic protoplasm,
Or God’s spectacular creature?
What a fabulous mechanism we flaunt, bejeweled
With this stunning, treasure-trove awareness,
What a rainbow engine, what genius of code,
What lonely little “da Vinci’s” are we all,
When peptides first self-replicated
In the initial bowl of primordial soup,
I wonder if anything ever fathomed me?
Indeterminable eons we have traveled
In barely lifting our eyes
Are we a mere miracle
Or a miraculous miracle?
